Salisbury Blanks Eagles In Men's Tennis Action

SALISBURY, Md. - Salisbury University blanked Bridgeawter College 9-0 Saturday afternoon in men's tennis action.

The Seagulls took control by sweeping the three double matches. Freddie Roberts and Canon Secord had a strong showing at No. 1 doubles, losing to Alexander Andgradi and Patrick MacLean 8-5.

At No. 2 doubles, Salsibury's Matthew Ryan and Ryan Santmyer downed Bridgewater's Sonet Gandhi and Matthew Gordon 8-3 while at No. 3 Salsibury's Brad Pappalardo and Stefan Hein stopped Nicholas Kiser and Robert Williard 6-1.

Secord put up quite the battle at No. 1 singles where the Eagles' freshman lost to Colt Williamson 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5). The Seagulls won the other five singles matches in straight sets to complete the 9-0 victory. Gandhi gave a solid performance at No. 4, falling to Pappalardo 6-3, 6-4 while Gordon lost at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-4 to Salsibury's Will Niessner.

Bridgewater will return to action on March 4 during the team's Spring Break trip to Hilton Head Island. The Eagles will play St. John Fisher.
