Eagles Roll Past Ferrum, 8-1

Canon Secord returns a shot for the Eagles.

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's tennis team rolled past Ferrum College, 8-1, in ODAC action Sunday on Mapp Courts.

The Eagles dominated doubles play to take a 3-0 lead. All three doubles teams - Canon Secord and Matthew Gordon at No. 1, Freddie Roberts and Sonet Gandhi at No. 2 and Robert Williard and Nicholas Kiser at No. 3 - won matches without losing a game.

Gandhi was the first off the court in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over David Bishop at No. 4 singles and Secord scored the clinching point with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 over Ferrum's Riley Kern.

Gordon took the win at No. 2 singles, defeating Marshall Ownby 6-2, 6-2 and Roberts stopped Partrick Marsh 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 3 slot. Kiser took a 6-2, 6-0 win over Jacob Glass at No. 5 singles.
 
Ferrum claimed its lone point at No. 6 singles where Houston Murphy outlasted Williard in split sets 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6).
