Guilford Edges Eagles, 5-4

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Guilford rallied from a 2-1 deficit after doubles play to defeat Bridgewater 5-4 Saturday in ODAC men's tennis action.

Guilford scored the first point when Joe Horne and Jay Montague defeated Freddie Roberts and Sonet Gandhi 8-3 to take the point at No. 2 doubles.

Canon Secord and Matthew Gordon pulled the Eagles even with an 8-5 win over Mason Robb and Elijah Gregory at No. 1 doubles. Robert Williard and Nicholas Kiser put the Eagles ahead 2-1 with an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles over Tim Thompson and Kai Glass.

Secord was the first off the court in singles with a 4-1 (retired) victory over Robb.

Guilford, however won the next four matches to win the match. Gregory defeated Gordon 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles while Montague downed Gandhi 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 slot. Glass stopped Williard 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 and Horne scored the clinching point, outlasting Roberts in split sets at No. 3 singles 6-2, 4-6, 6-0.

Kiser scored the final point for the Eagles with a 7-5, 7-6 win at No. 5 singles over Thompson.
