
BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater won two of the three doubles matches and then split the singles to edge Randolph-Macon 5-4 in ODAC men's tennis play Saturday afternoon at Mapp Courts.
The final result hinged on the outcome of the final match on the courts where Bridgewater's Sonet Gandhi and Randolph-Macon's Shane Berry battled for the three sets. Gandhi took the first set 6-3, but Berry evened the match with a 6-4 win in the second set. Gandhi prevailed in the third set 6-3 to clinch the victory for the Eagles.
Randolph-Macon got on the board first as Alex Hein and Eric Moulton took the win at No. 3 doubles, defeating Nicholas Kiser and Robert Wiliard 8-1. Freddie Roberts and Gandhi evened the score for the Eagles with an 8-5 victory over Jacob Haines and Berry at No. 2 doubles. Bridgewater took a 2-1 lead when Canon Secord and Matthew Gordon held off Grant Sarver and Ryan Aud 8-5 at the No. 1 doubles slot.
