Men's Tennis Defeats E&H

Sonet Gandhi and Freddie Roberts take a break at No. 2 doubles.

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Bridgewater College won five of six singles matches Sunday to defeat Emory & Henry 7-2 in ODAC men's tennis action on Mapp Courts.

The Eagles took a 2-1 lead in doubles action.

Bridgewater's Canon Secord and Matthew Gordon rolled to an 8-1 victory at No. 1 doubles over Dalton Shipley and Grayson McCarty. The Wasps evened the match with a close victory at No. 3 doubles where Brandon McGuire and Staymon Johnson edged Nicholas Kiser and Robert Williard 8-7. The E&H duo won the tiebreaker 8-6. The Eagles regained the lead when Freddie Roberts and Sonet Gandhi held off Archer Marlow and Cooper Garrett 8-6 to take the point at No. 2.

Gandhi put up the first point in singles, defeating Shipley 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 3 slot. Secord took the win at No. 1, defeating McGuire 6-2, 6-2. Eagles' senior Roberts put up the clinching point with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No 4 singles over Grayson McCarty.

Kiser rolled to a 6-2, 6-1 win over Garrett at the No. 5 slot and Gordon downed Marlow 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

McClung picked up E&H's lone singles point, defeating Tyler Kolaskie 6-4, 6-0 at No. 6.
