Guilford Tops Eagles In ODAC Quarterfinals

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The season came to end for the Bridgewater men's tennis team Tuesday afternoon with a 5-0 loss to Guilford College in the quarterfinals of the ODAC tournament.

Doubles proved to be the deciding factor as the Eagles had an opportunity in each of the three flights, but came away without scoring a point.

The Quakers took the first doubles point when Tim Thompson and Logan Glass held off Nicholas Kiser and Robert Williard, 8-6, at No. 3 doubles to put the hosts on the scoreboard.

Guilford made it 2-0 as Mason Robb and Elijah Gregory edged Canon Secord and Matthew Gordon 8-7 at the No. 1 flight. The Quakers pair won the tiebreaker 7-5.

The Quakers completed the sweep with another close win at No. 2 doubles where Jay Montague and Joe Horne defeated Freddie Roberts and Sonet Gandhi 8-6.

Guilford added the first singles point with a 6-1, 6-0 win by Glass over Bridgewater's Tyler Kolaskie at No. 6.
 
Gregory added the clinching point for the Quakers with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Gordon at No. 2 singles.
 
The match was stopped after Guilford scored the fifth point to clinch the team victory.
