FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – Bridgewater sophomore Canon Secord won two matches in the championship singles flight Friday as the Eagles' men's tennis team participated at the ITA Southeast Regional hosted by the University of Mary Washington
Second won his opening round match Friday in splits sets over Washington College's Landon Strober 6-1, 3-6, 6-0. In the second round, Secord advanced to the Round of 16 when Southern Virginia's Paul Monson retired in the second set. Secord was leading the match 6-4, 2-0 at the time.
In other singles action, Bridgewater's Matthew Gordon lost his opening match in Flight B4 singles to Matthew Fontanese of Ursinus 6-4-6-1.
Secord and Gordon won their opening match in championship doubles before losing in the second round.
The Eagles' duo won their opening match over Muhlenberg's Benedict Kohler and Noah Sellinger 8-2. In the second round they lost to Washington and Lee's John Rudden and Harry Shepherd 8-4.
In Flight B2 doubles, Bridgewater's Sonet Gandhi and Nick Kiser won their opening round match over Stevenson's Richie Abruscato and Andre Sturniolo 8-6.
