Men's Track and Field Moves Up One Spot in National Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Bridgewater College men's track and field team is ranked No. 24 in the nation by the USTFCCCA. The men moved up one spot from last week's rankings where they were No. 25. The men are coming off their second straight ODAC championship title and have several athletes in qualifying positions for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

Davonta Womack currently has the fourth best 100 meter time in the country (10.54). He also sits at 29th in the 200 meters (21.62) and 28th in the long jump (7.24m/23'9").

Jamie Hiegel also a has top ten mark to his name, recording the seventh best 10,000 meter time this season (30:07.63). 

The Eagles 4x100 meter relay team of Womack, Alex Galloway, Diante Cannon and Dirk Jones have the fourth best time in Division III (41.16). Jones also has the 28th best long jump (7.10m/23'3.50").

After competing in his first and the program's first decathlon this past weekend, Chase Rosenthal's 6,421 point performance is 19th best in the country. 

In addition to the national ranking, the team cracked the top spot in South/Southeast Region Rankings for the first time this season. 

The Eagles now wait to see what athletes have qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
