LEWISBURG, Pa. - Calista Ariel and Jamie Hiegel both set new school records at the Bison Outdoor Classic in the steeplechase and 10,000 meters. They also produced some of the top times in the country.
Ariel's steeplechase time of 11:10.11 is 17 seconds faster than her own previous school record of 11:27.43 that she set last year. The junior took 16th at the meet, which featured competitors from Bucknell, Penn State, George Washington, Pittsburg, Cornell, and several other Division I schools. Her time is 11th best in the country this season.
Hiegel's time of 30:07.63 in the 10k was good for eighth at the meet. The previous school record was 31:23.91, which was set by Luke Sohl in 2012. His time is the sixth best in the country this season.
Both men's and women's squads now look to the ODAC Championships held next weekend at Randolph College. The men are looking for back-to-back titles while the women are looking to regain the top spot for the first time since 2017.
