Ten Eagles Make All-Region in 14 Events

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Ten members of the Bridgewater College men's and women's track and field teams have earned All-Region status from the USTFCCCA. The Eagles represent 14 events with five athletes collecting honors in more than one event.

Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay teams. Bridgewater competes in the South/Southeast Region. 

On the men's side, Diante Cannon, Alex Galloway, Dirk Jones and Davonta Womack were the top team in the region in the 4x100 meter relay. Womack also picked up honors in the 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump. He was the top regional performer in the 100 meters and was named the ODAC Outdoor Athlete of the Meet at the conference championship meet.

After competing in the program's first-ever decathlon, Chase Rosenthal's performance was best in the region. He also earned accolades for his performance in the 110 meter hurdles. 

Jamie Hiegel was named All-Region in the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters. He was the top regional performer in both events. 

On the women's side, Calista Ariel and Emily Valle represent the Eagles in three events each. Ariel garnered honors in the 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters, and 3,000 meter steeplechase. She was also named the ODAC Outdoor Athlete of the Meet at the conference championship meet. Valle earned honors in the 400 meter hurdles, long jump and 100 meter hurdles.

Tye Meador was the top regional performer in the long jump to earn a spot on the list.

English Jackson secured honors for her performance in the 5,000 meters.

Cannon, Galloway, Jones, Womack, Hiegel, Ariel, Valle, Meador and Jackson will be representing Bridgewater at NCAA Outdoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The championship begins on May 23 and runs through May 25.
