BRIDGEWATER, Va. – BC softball coach Lis Schulz is leaving Bridgewater, to accept another head coaching job closer to home.

Schulz led Bridgewater to its first ODAC playoff appearance in five years this spring- her fourth season with the program. The Eagles went 23-17 and earned the fifth seed in the conference postseason tournament.

The 2019 campaign included wins over #6 Lynchburg, NCAA super regional champion Randolph-Macon, and CAC finalist Mary Washington.

"This is a big loss for the department," said director of athletics Curt Kendall. "Lis is a talented young coach who will be missed."

"This was an extremely hard decision for me because I'm so excited about the future of this team," said Schulz. "All of the members of the team have been, and hopefully will continue to be, an important part of my life. I'm so proud of them and know that they will continue to do great things next year."

A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
