VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Wesleyan handed the Bridgewater College women's soccer team its first conference loss of the season Saturdayas the Marlins held off the Eagles, 2-1.

The Marlins wasted little time in getting on the board as Kaitlyn Clunan took a pass from Sherlanda Buskey and found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead less than three minutes into the game.

The score remained 1-0 until the 61st minute when Bridgewater's Melanie Waters scored on a penalty kick to tie the score 1-1.

The Eagles kept the pressure on the Marlins in the final six minutes as they fired off five shots and had one corner kick down the stretch, but they were unable to score the tying goal.
