BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's soccer team has received the Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Silver Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
The NSCAA honors teams with gold, silver or bronze awards to recognize fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.
To receive the gold award, teams must have zero yellow cards and zero red cards during the season.
The Eagles received the silver award that goes to teams with no red cards and no more than five yellow cards. Bridgewater received one yellow card during the past playing season.
A total of 254 teams (includes men's and women's teams at all levels of college play) received recognition. The Eagles were the lone team in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference to receive the honor.
