Eagles Picked Third In ODAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

Bridgewater is picked No. 3 in the ODAC women's soccer preseason poll. Cat Huafe returns to the midfield for the Eagles this season.

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College women's soccer team was picked third in the ODAC Coaches Preseason Poll released today.

Lynchburg received 10 first-place votes to secure the No. 1 ranking in the preseason poll. Virginia Wesleyan received two-first place votes and 149 points to edge Bridgewater by three points for the second spot in the poll. The Eagles received the remaining two first-place votes to lock up the third spot.

Bridgewater is coming off its best season in program history. The Eagles were 15-4-2 overall and tied for first place in the ODAC regular season standings with a 7-1-2 record. Bridgewater received an at-large bid to the Division III NCAA Tournament, the program's first-ever appearance in the national tournament.

Following the Eagles, the remainder of the poll includes in order, Randolph-Macon, Washington and Lee, Roanoke, Shenandoah, Eastern Mennonite, Ferrum, Guilford, Randolph, Emory & Henry, Hollins and Sweet Briar.

The Eagles open the 2019 season on Friday, Aug. 30 against Denison at the Washington and Lee tournament.
