FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Rowan University scored in the opening minute of the second overtime Saturday afternoon to slip past Bridgewater College, 2-1, on the opening day of the Mary Washington Classic.

The Profs wasted little time in taking the lead as Riley Finnegan scored in the opening minute of play for a quick 1-0 advantage.

Bridgewater tied the score with less than two minutes left in the first half when Sydney Ryan crossed a ball into the box and it bounced over the keeper's head to tie the score at 1-1.

The score remained tied until Rowan tallied in the opening minute of the second overtime on a goal by Carla Jones for the 2-1 victory.

Rowan held a 10-6 edge in total shots and a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks. Bridgewater goalkeeper Jessica Touve finished with three saves.

Bridgewater is back in action Sunday on day two of the UMW Classic when the Eagles face Mary Washington.
