Bridgewater Takes 1-0 Victory In Two Overtimes

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College played its second double-overtime game in two days, but Sunday the Eagles came out on top with a 1-0 victory over Mary Washington at the UMW Classic.

Bridgewater took the victory when Mary Washington scored an own goal in the seventh minute of the second overtime period.

Eagles' goalkeeper Sydney Davis recorded the shutout and finished the contest with five saves, including a penalty kick save.

Mary Washington held a 13-9 advantage in total shots, but Bridgewater held a slim 6-5 margin in shots of goal.  The hosts held a 9-1 edge in corner kick opportunities. 

Both teams had one shot attempt in the first overtime. The Eagles had an opportunity for the game-winner in the first OT, but a shot by Janidy Madera was stopped by Mary Washington keepr Aly Holden.
