GREENSBORO, N.C. - Bridgewater College ran its winning streak to seven straight with a 1-0 victory Saturday evening over the Guilford College Quakers.
The first half was played in the midfield and was dominated by the defenses. Neither team took a shot in the first 45 minutes.
Bridgewater's Hanna Randolph took the first shot of the game just 13 seconds into the second half. The Eagles scored the game's only goal less than three minutes later. Eagles senior Bridget Fabiani was unmarked when she possessed a loose ball inside the box. Fabiani took her shot from 15 yards out and was able to put it past the outstretched arm of Guilford keeper Aubrey Gunther.
Bridgewater finished the contest with a 5-4 edge in total shots and a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Eagles' keeper Sydney Davis did not need to make a save as she recorded her third consecutive shutout victory.
The Eagles, now 10-5-2 overall and 6-2 in the ODAC, are back in action Tuesday evening when they make the long trip to Virginia Beach to play Virginia Wesleyan. The contest is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
