Eagles Picked Fourth In Women's Poll

Eagles Picked Fourth In Women's Poll

FOREST, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team was picked fourth in the ODAC Coaches' Preseason Poll released Wednesday by the conference office.

Perennial conference power Washington and Lee received 100 points along with 10 first-place votes and was the overwhelming choice to defend its 2015 conference title. Roanoke College was second in the poll with 87 points while Randolph-Macon checked in at No. 3 with 81 points and the remaining first-place vote. Bridgewater was fourth with 65 points, one point better than Randolph College.

The Eagles will put a young team on the court as this year's roster features just one senior. The Eagles do return one of the top players in the conference with junior Maria Hawkins back at the No. 1 singles slot. Hawkins, who played her way into the regional rankings during her sophomore season, was an All-ODAC first-team selection at both No. 1 singles and doubles.

Bridgewater opens its season on Feb. 20 at Salisbury University where the Eagles will play Juniata College.
