SALISBURY, Md. - Juniata College handed Bridgewater College a 9-0 loss in women's tennis action played at Salisbury University.
Juniata swept doubles action to take a quick 3-0 lead. The closest match came at the No. 1 slot where Bridgewater's Holly Knupp and Stephanie Barton were edged out by Juniata's Rachel Yurchisin and Katharine Conklin, 8-6.
Juniata lost just one game in the remaining two doubles matches. Lauren Lucas and Nora Tsai stopped Bridgewater's Shannon Quinn and Ashley Price 8-0 at No. 2 while Tori Gray and Mitsuki Koh took an 8-1 win over Bridgewater's Whitney Cash and Haley Lloyd at the No. 3 position.
Juniata swept the six singles matches, all in straight sets.
Knupp put up a strong effort for the Eagles at No. 1, losing a close match to Lucas 6-4, 6-4.
Yurchisin downed Barton 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 and Conklin bested Price 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. At No. 4, Koh downed Cast 6-0, 6-2 while Vienna Cordier defeated Quinn 6-0, 6-0. Sam Hendricks closed out the scoring with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 over Bridgewater's Lloyd.
The Eagles return to action Sunday against Salisbury.
