Women's Tennis Falls To Regional Power Salisbury

SALSIBURY, Md. - The Salisbury women's tennis team, ranked No. 8 in the region, defeated Bridgewater College 9-0 in non-conference play Sunday.

The Seagulls swept the three doubles matches, losing a total of five games.

Salisbury's Claudia Lohn and Megan Soderlund got things started with an 8-2 win over Ashley Price and Whitney Cash at No. 2 doubles.

Natalie Savage and Zoe Moffat downed BC's Holly Knupp and Stephanie Barton at No. 1 doubles and Megan Knapp and Taylor Cooper defeated Shannon Quinn and Haley Lloyd 8-2 at No. 3.

The Seagulls swept singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets.

Savage, ranked No. 17 in the region in singles play, defeated Knupp 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 singles flight.

Cooper was next off the court as she defeated Bridgewater's Quinn 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5. Soderlund defeated Cash 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and Moffat turned back Barton 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2.

In the final two matches, Knapp downed Lloyd 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 and Lohn stopped Price 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
