Women's Tennis Loses At Shenandoah, 6-3

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Bridgewater College women's tennis team dropped a close contest Wednesday afternoon, falling to Shenandoah University 6-3 in ODAC action.

The Hornets grabbed a 2-1 lead after doubles play by taking victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At the No. 1 position, Shenandoah's Molly Barb and Caitlin Tilton turned back Stephanie Barton and Whitney Cash 8-2. At No. 3, the Hornets duo of Kelsey Nicely and Melodie Madison defeated Haley Lloyd and Caroline Edwards 8-1.

The Eagles earned their point at No. 2 doubles where Ashley Price and Shannon Quinn stopped Amy Rapp and Denise Vollmer 8-3.

Shenandoah received a walkover win at No. 6 singles, leaving the Hornets just two wins shy of clinching the team victory. 

Barb defeated Barton 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to move the Hornets closer to the win. Rapp earned the clinching point with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Price at the No. 2 singles slot.

Tilton claimed the final point with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Cash at No. 3 singles.

Bridgewater posted singles victoires at No. 4 and No. 5. Quinn rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Vollmer at No. 4 while Lloyd defeated Madison 6-4, 6-1 to win at No. 5.
