ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon swept the singles matches Thursday afternoon and defeated Bridgewater College, 8-1, in ODAC women's tennis action.
The Eagles were still playing shorthanded due to injuries and defaulted at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
The teams split the two doubles matches that were contested, giving the Yellow Jackets a 2-1 edge after doubles play.
Bridgewater picked up its lone point at No. 1 doubles where Stephanie Barton and Whitney Cash held off Caitlin Delmas and Sid Corrigan 8-5. The hosts won at No 2 as Kelsie Grice and Gaby Tersigni stopped Bridgewater's Ashley Price and Shannon Quinn 8-3.
The Yellow Jackets won the five contested singles matches in straight sets.
Grice defeated Barton 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Delmas downed Price by the same scores at No. 2.
Macon's Melissa Tomlin downed Quinn 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles while Tersigni turned back Cash 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 4 slot.
Tori McDonald completed the singles sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 6 over BC's Haley Lloyd.
