Women's Tennis Picks Up 5-2 Victory Over WildCats

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College took a 3-0 lead after doubles play and went on to defeat Randolph College, 5-2, Friday evening in ODAC women's tennis action played at the Crosswhite Athletic Club.

Bridgewater's Stephanie Barton and Whitney Cash won a hard-fought match at No. 1 doubles, defeating Ranodolph's Dina Velazco and Jenna Sweet 9-7.

The Eagles had an easier time at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, winning both matches 8-0. Bridgewater's Shannon Quinn and Ashley Price defeated Alex Wieczorek and Emmalyn Snead at No. 2 while Holly Knupp and Haley Lloyd were victorious at No. 3 against Samantha Dickerson and Shelby Lutz.

Randolph won the first two singles flights before the Eagles clinched the match with wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles.

At No. 1 singles, Randolph's Velazco stopped Barton 6-4, 6-1 and her WildCats' teammate Sweet downed Price 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2.

Knupp blanked Snead 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles and Cash defeated Wieczorek 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 to clinch the match for the Eagles.
