Rhodes meets NCAA provisional mark

 Bridgewater College freshman Christina Rhodes met the NCAA provisional qualifying standard in the pole vault Saturday at Christopher Newport.

Rhodes set a new BC record in the pole vault as she cleared 3.51 meters (11 feet, 6.25 inches).

Jill Wattai placed second in the 200 with a time of 25.51 seconds.

For the men, Melvin Queen placed fifth in the 100 with a time of 10.83 and Tony Konate placed third in the 200 with a time of 22.11. Stanley Peyton placed second in the 800 with a time of 1:55.24 and Nathan Turner won the shot put with a throw of 17.14 meters.
