BALTIMORE – During the final meet before ODACs, sophomore Amber Celen beat her own record in the 200 meter dash to set a new program standard in the event at the Hopkins Loyola Invitational on Saturday.
Bridgewater scored 34.5 total points to rank fifth in an 18-team field.
Celen ran a time of 24.75 seconds in the 200 for the new school record, and blazed the 100 meter with a time of 12.17 seconds to place second.
Haley Bunting represented BC in the 400 meter, finishing the event in 1:04.47.
Mid-distance specialist Maryellen Hauver clocked a season-best time of 2:14.01 in the 800 meter. Danielle Crist and Emily Young also turned in solid performances in the 800 by posting PR times. Crist posted a time of 2:24.77 and Young clocked in at 2:26.53.
Senior Kristen Trice ran a .01 PR on a time of 15.74 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles for fifth place.
Senior Makenzie McDonald clocked a time of 4:58.15 in the 1500 meter.
A quartet of Hauver, Tye Meador, Celen and Bunting earned fifth in the 4x400 with a season-best time of 4:10.26.
Celen continued her impressive outing by posting a season-best 5.53 meters (18-1.75ft) to win the long jump. Meador also leaped 4.95 meters (16-3ft) in the long jump.
Trice cleared 1.58 meters (5-2.25ft) for third in the high jump, while sophomore Courtney Adams climbed 1.48 meters (4-10.25ft) in the event. Trice also earned fourth in the triple jump on a leap of 11.11 meters (36-5.50ft).
The Eagles sent their throwers to compete in the New Captains Classic hosted by Christopher Newport as well. Katelyn Senger improved on her season-best in the discus with a toss of 42.26 meters (138-8ft) for second place. Maura Tudja recorded a mark of 24.19 (79-4ft) in the discus.
Senger also threw 10.33 meters (33-10.75ft) in the shot put.
The women's track and field team will compete in the 2016 Outdoor ODAC Championships held in Lynchburg, Va., on April 22-23.
