Davis Earns Regional Coaching Recognition

NEW ORLEANS – Track and Field coach Denver Davis was named South/Southeast Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year for the second time this track season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday.

Davis, in his sixth year coaching jumps, sprints and hurdles at Bridgewater, helped sophomore Amber Celen and senior Kristen Trice qualify in the upcoming NCAA Outdoor Championships.

His athletes also scored 103 of the team's 164 points at the 2016 ODAC Outdoor Championships, leading the team to their first title since 1998. Davis had athletes earn five event wins in the conference meet.

The award marks Davis' fifth of his career. He earned the honor his first time in 2012 as South/Southeast Region Men's Assistant Coach of the Year.
