Women's Track Competes at Camel City Opening Night

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Bridgewater College women's track & field team competed against top-level competition, at the opening day of the Camel City Invitational in Winston-Salem.

The meet includes teams from all three Divisions, including major Division I schools like Duke, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.

Bridgewater had an excellent team performance in the 5K. Calista Ariel set a school record for the second straight week following her program mark in the mile, running 17:33.61 to place third overall. English Jackson (18:13.09) won the second heat and moved up to eighth place, and senior Jenna Rea finished 16th in 18:48.80.

Freshman Kacee Hooker placed 26th in the 800 meters (2:28.62), and was also 42nd in the 60m hurdles after running 10.38.

Tye Meador led the field events on Friday night with a 13th place performance in the long jump, with a mark of 5.11m/16'9.25".

In the weight throw, Sydne Moseley was 22nd (12.34m/40'6") and Danielle Werner was 25th (10.25m/33'7.5").

The meet will continue tomorrow with more track events, along with the shot put and triple jump.
