ROANOKE, Va. - Tye Meador, Emily Valle, English Jackson, and Calista Ariel all took home a first place medal as the Bridgewater College women's indoor track and field team placed second at the 2019 ODAC Championships. Emily Valle was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Year, while Calista Ariel was named the ODAC/Va. Farm Bureau Scholar Athlete of the Year.
The Eagles earned 132 points for second. Lynchburg took the top spot with 176 points while Roanoke rounded out the top three with 119 points.
Tye Meador won the individual long jump championship (5.47m/17'11.50"). She also placed third in the triple jump (10.42m/34'2.25"), seventh in the 60 meter sprint (8.24) and ninth in the 200 meters (27.54).
Emily Valle won the title in the 60 meter hurdles (8.89) while also setting a new ODAC and Bridgewater College record. The time currently puts her at tenth in the nation. She backed up her Athlete of the Year nod with a second place finish in the long jump (5.34m/17'6.25"), third place finish in the 60 meter sprint (7.80), and second place finish in the 200 meters (26.00).
English Jackson won the conference mile championship (5:13.90). She also impressed with a second place finish in the 3000 meters (10:27.80).
Calista Ariel took home two conference titles. She won the 3000 meters (10:25.42) and the 5000 meters (18:04.10) while taking home second in the mile (5:16.47).
Jenna Rea finished seventh in the 5000 meters (19:06.80).
Sydne Moseley led the throwers with a third place finish in the shot put (11.64m/38'2.25") and seventh place finish in the weight throw (12.07m/39'7.25"). Danielle Werner finished sixth in the shot put (10.84m/35'6.75") followed by Chloe Ferguson in ninth (10.50m/34'5.50"). Olivia Kloster took eighth in the weight throw (11.77m/38'7.50").
Katie McElroy finished tenth in the triple jump (9.79m/32'1.80").
The 400 meter distance medley relay team of Charis Barnes, Jordan Davis, Sidney Hinkle, and Alissa Hill finished fifth (14:41.74) while the 4x400 team of Blake, Erin Fitzpatrick, Davis, and Hooker finished fourth (4:18.90).
The Eagles return to the track next weekend at the Roanoke Final Qualifer.
