LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater College Volleyball team rolled to 3-0 victory over the University of Lynchburg Hornets Wednesday night by a score of 25-20, 25-15, and 25-12.
The Eagles came out strong in the first set and never looked back. Bridgewater's energy and enthusiasm proved to be too much for the Hornets. The team hit a .350 for the match while holding Lynchburg to just a .081.
Rachel Gaston led the Eagles with nine kills. Not far behind were Lindsay Olzawski and Nadia Valle with eight a piece. Eight ties Olzawski's career high and sets a new one for the freshman Valle. Both hitters also scored kills to seal sets for the Eagles. Sophomore Jyailah Friendly also set a career high in digs while leading the team with 13. Victoria Wilson continued to set the Eagle hitters, racking up 31 assists.
Bridgewater moves to 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in the ODAC. It is a quick turnaround for the Eagles as they face Mary Baldwin University at home tomorrow, September 20.
