BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team defeated Mary Baldwin University 3-0 on September 13 to move to 9-0 on the season. Six players totaled four or more kills for the Eagles.

Bridgewater started strong, only allowing Mary Baldwin to score ten total points in the first set. Rachel Gaston collected all four of her kills in the first, along with Grace Hayes picking up ten assists and Taylor McNeely scooping up six digs. Madison Haynes hit .500 in the first.

Mary Baldwin responded after the first set, but not enough to keep the Eagles from taking charge. After trading points until midway through both sets, Bridgewater was able to pull away for 25-17 and 25-16 set wins.

Nadia Valle led the home team with seven kills, followed by Sienna Sullivan who reached a career high with five kills. Lindsay Olzawski, Hope Jennings, Emily Hanger and Gaston each had four kills for the Eagles. Jessica Bissmeyer controlled the offense in sets two and three, picking up a career high 15 assists. Jennings led the backline with ten digs while Jyailah Friendly notched eight.

Bridgewater returns to action tomorrow, September 14, in a tri-match featuring Hollins and Greensboro. The Eagles face ODAC competitor Hollins at 11:00 a.m. followed by their second tilt of the season with Greensboro at 3:00 p.m.
