BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team swept visiting Goucher College 3-0 on Senior Day in Nininger Hall. Before the match, the team honored seniors Rachel Gaston, Madison Haynes and Taylor McNeely

Goucher started the match strong, taking an early 6-3 lead. The Eagles found their rhythm and got within a point of the Gophers as the teams continued to trade points. The early stages of the first set featured four ties and three lead changes. Bridgewater was able to break away from Goucher on a Haynes service run to make it 17-14. The Eagles pushed to the finish and won the set 25-18. Gaston and Hope Jennings each had four kills in the set.

The teams went back and forth at the start of the second before several Goucher errors gave Bridgewater a two point edge. The Eagles held on from there, not allowing the Gophers to come within two points for the remainder of the set and holding the visitors to a .097 hitting percentage. Lisa O'Grady ended the set with one of her six kills on the day.

Bridgewater's offense came alive in the third. The team totaled 17 kills and hit for a .400 in the set. Seven different players recorded at least a kill with Sarah Kerns slamming down one for the set and match.
