Ariel, Jackson Earn 1st-Team All-ODAC Honors: Ariel Named Student-Athlete Of The Year

ROANOKE, Va. - Bridgewater's English Jackson and Calista Ariel both finished inside the Top 10 and earned first-team all-conference honors Saturday at the ODAC Women's Cross Country Championship Meet hosted by Roanoke College at Green Hill Park.

Ariel, a senior, was also named the ODAC/Farm Bureau Women's Cross Country Student/Athlete of the Year. It is the second ODAC Student-Athlete of the Year honor for Ariel as she received the award during her junior year for indoor track.

The Eagles' duo paced the team to a seventh-place finish in the 12-team field. Bridgewater finished with a team score of 174.

Jackson placed sixth overall Saturday, finishing the 6K course with a time of 22:26.4. Ariel was close behind in seventh place, crossing the line in 22:33.5. 

Ariel earned first-team All-ODAC honors for the third consecutive season. Jackson's first-team honor was her first after earning second-team recognition a year ago.

Ali Hill was Bridgewater's third scorer, placing 66th overall with a time of 27:16. Kacee Hooker was next in line for Bridgewater, placing 77th with a time of 28:34.7. Savannah Blake completed the Eagles' scoring, posting a time of 29:02.8 to finish 79th.

Washington and Lee placed all five of its scorers inside the top nine finishers to coast to the team title with 20 points, well ahead of second-place Lynchburg with 73. W&L had the top three finishers with Sara Stephenson winning the individual title with a time of 22:00.4.
