Bridgewater College

Del Smith takes over the reins of the Bridgewaterlinebacking corps in 2011. Smith brings with him five-plus yearscoaching experience at the prep school, Division I and Division IIlevels.

Most recently, Smith served as the head coach at theBlue Ridge School where he led the Barons to an appearance in theState Championship game. In 2009-10, Smith was named the OldDominion Football Club (ODFC) and Virginia Independent Conference(VIC) Coach of the Year.

Prior to his time at Blue Ridge, Smith was theLinebackers and Special Teams Coordinator at Division I FootballChampionship Subdivision (FCS) Wagner College in Staten Island, NYfor two years where he recruited throughout the Mid-Atlantic andassisted on a defense which ranked first in the NortheastConference (NEC).

Before his stint at Wagner, Smith was a part-timeassistant coach at Division II West Virginia Wesleyan, where he wasalso a player.

Smith graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan in 2004with a Bachelor of Sciences in Marketing. He lives in Crozet withhis wife Ashley.
