Tommy Haney is entering his 18th year of coaching and 6th season coaching in a college program. This will be his 2nd season as an assistant with Bridgwater.
Haney helped lead the Eagles to a 15-6 overall record last season which is the 3rd highest win total in program history. This earned the 2nd NCAA Tournament appearance in program history and the team ended the season with 11 shutouts, 72 goals, and 57 assists. Haney also helped freshmen Erinn Lockard earn 2nd Team All ODAC honors and 7 shutouts on the season which is tied for 2nd most by a goalkeeper in a season.
Haney, a Dallas area native, came to Bridgewater after spending the previous 3 years as an assistant at Centenary College in Louisiana for the men’s team. He began his coaching career in 2009 as a Volunteer Coach at Austin College, his alma mater, before coaching club and high school in Dallas, New Orleans, North Carolina, and Miami.
Haney holds his US Soccer Federation B Coaching License.
Haney played 4 years at Austin College and was named team captain his senior year. He graduated with a degree in history.
Haney earned his master’s degree in Sports Administration from the University of Miami in 2017.
