Sam Varner

Sam Varner was named interim head coach of the Bridgewater men'sand women's tennis teams on Oct. 20, 2013 and will lead bothprograms during the 2014 spring season.

Varner joined the Eagles coaching staff as an assistantcoach for both the men's and women's tennis programs for the2012-2013 season. He is a Professional Tennis Registrycertified professional with several years teaching experience inthe Charlottesville, Va., Washington D.C. and Richmond,Va. areas. Prior to joining the Eagles staff, Varner served asa volunteer assistant coach at Randolph-Macon College.

Along with his private work, Varner served as the head of juniordevelopment at Tennis the Gray Way in the Richmond, Va. area wherehe taught independent instructional lessons from 2005-11 and ledUSTA adult group clinics and match play.

Varner, a Charlottesville, Va., native is no stranger to theODAC.  He played four years of tennis at Randolph-MaconCollege and was a two-time team captain. He graduated fromRandolph-Macon in 2009 with a bachelor of arts degree inhistory.
