Roanoke hands field hockey 5-1 loss

Roanoke College controlled play in the second half Friday afternoon to defeat Bridgewater College, 5-1, in ODAC field hockey action at Mapp Field.

The Eagles led 1-0 at the break on a goal by Kalah Hess off an assist from Leah Cossentino.

Roanoke tied the score in the first minute of the second half and the first of two goals by Helen Pearsall. The Maroons then took the lead at the 42:10 mark on a goal by Mariah Vietri.

Goals by Pearsall and Vietri made the score 4-1 before Emily Huston scored the final goal for Roanoke.

Bridgewater is now 7-9 overall and 1-5 in the ODAC while Roanoke is 2-11, 1-4 in the ODAC.
