Bridgewater College scored two goals in the first 16 minutes
Saturday and that turned out to be enough as the Eagles upset the
third-seeded Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets, 2-0, in the
quarterfinals of the ODAC field hockey tournament.
Megan Bach scored an unassisted goal just eight minutes into the
contest to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
BC added to its lead at the 15:48 mark on a goal by Kelli Worst,
making the score 2-0.
The Eagles defense did the rest as goalkeeper Elizabeth Sullivan
recorded the shutout and finished with eight saves.
The Eagles, now 10-9 on the season, advance to the semifinals where
they will meet No. 2 Lynchburg. The Hornets defeated Roanoke
College, 7-1, in another Saturday quarterfinal match. The site and
time of BC's semifinal is still to be determined.
