Box Score Bridgewater College overcame a terrible shooting night to escape
with a 63-52 victory over the Guilford College Quakers in ODAC
women's basketball action Friday night at Nininger Hall.
Bridgewater shot just 30.8 percent form the floor for the game,
just better than the 30.4 percent put up by the Quakers.
The Eagles did hit 18-of-24 free throws while Guilford connected on
just 6-of-13 at the line. Guilford stayed in the game from 3-point
range as the Quakers hit 12-of-28 from long range. The Quakers made
just five baskets inside the arc the entire game.
After the teams played to a 23-23 first half tie, Guilford grabbed
an early six-point, 35-29, lead in the second half on consecutive
3-pointers by Katie Dailey (Jamestown, NC/Ragsdale).
The Quakers stayed out front until Emileigh Lambert
(Charlottesville, VA/Albemarle) hit two free throws to tie the
score at 37-37. Bridgewater then regained the lead, 39-37, on a
layup by Bianca Booker (Blackstone, VA/Nottoway) with 10:09 to
play.
The Eagles led the rest of the way, but the Quakers stayed within
six points until 1:45 left in the game.
Kristin Bosserman (Staunton, VA/Riverheads) led the Eagles with 18
points. Jordan Burkholder (Bridgewater VA/Turner Ashby) recorded
her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds and
Jessica Timberlake (Charlottesville, VA/Madison County) added 10
points.
Ann Seufer (Williamstown, WV/Williamstown) led the Quakers with 14
points, all if the first half. Tracey Croner (Rockwell, NC/East
Rowan) scored 13 and Dailey added 11. Seufer also added 10 rebounds
for the Quakers.
The Eagles are now 10-10 overall and 8-7 in the ODAC. Guilford
drops to 10-10 overall and 5-10 in the ODAC.
