Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Bridgewater Eagles
(7-5) field hockey team went on the road to do battle with the
17th-ranked Christopher Newport Captains (8-2), and fell by a 5-0
tally.
CNU senior Annie Gehring tallied the first two goals of the game
for the captains to take a 2-0 advantage.
Junior Taylor Harrell also netted a pair of Captain goals, while
sophomore Paige Childers netted the other CNU tally.
CNU led 4-0 at the break, before tallying an additional goal to
round out the scoring at a 5-0 margin.
In the cage, senior netminder Elizabeth Sullivan picked up the
loss, allowing four CNU goals. Sophomore Taylor Waddell also split
time with Sullivan, allowing one goal.
“We played well, but just couldnt' find the back of the
cage,” said head coach Allyson Kenyon.
Bridgewater is back in action on Saturday, October 10 when the
Eagles travel to Lexington, Va. for an ODAC showdown with
Washington and Lee. Game-time is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
