Box Score BRIDGEWATER, Va. – With three players in
double figures, led by junior Emileigh Lambert's game-high 12
points, the Bridgewater Eagles women used a balanced offense and a
stout defense to down the visiting Guilford Quakers in Old Dominion
Athletic Conference (ODAC) action from Nininger Hall by a 59-43
score.
Over the course of the game's first two minutes, Guilford
(6-5, 3-3 ODAC) led by as many as four, before the Eagles notched a
6-0 run to take the lead for good at a 12-6 tally with 14:21 to
play in the opening stanza.
Guilford got back within three on a Jasmine Wood layup with 9:07
to play, but the remainder of the first half was all Bridgewater as
the Eagles took a 32-21 lead into the locker room.
Junior Jenny Logan led the charge for BC in the first half with
nine point, which led all first half scorers.
At the onset of the second half, BC used an 20-2 run to blow the
game wide open at a 54-25 margin with 11:37 to play.
The Quakers would inch back into the half over the final ten
minutes against Bridgewater's bench, but would get no closer
than the game's final tally of 59-43 as the Eagles were
victorious over the Quakers.
Lambert led all scorers, notching a season-best 12 points.
Junior Jordan Burkholder chipped in 11 points, while Logan finished
the game with 10.
Guilford guard Jazlyn Gibbs netted a team-high nine points for
the Quakers.
BC outrebounded Guilford by a 53-36 margin, but the Eagles lost
the turnover battle 30-23.
From the floor, the Eagles outshot the Quakers by a 36-to-28
tally.
Bridgewater is back action tomorrow, Saturday, when Emory &
Henry visits Nininger Hall. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m.
