Box Score DANVILLE, Va. - Bridgewater won its second road
game in two games as the Eagles defeated Averett University, 68-56,
Monday in non-conference basketball action.
The victory was the second this season for Bridgewater over the
Cougars. BC defeated Averett, 80-74, at the Don Glick Classic in
Nininger Hall.
Monday night the Eagles used a balanced scoring attack and a
solid defensive effort to hold off Averett.
Senior Dominic Trawick was held to 13 points, nine below his
season average, but Segar Jordan scored 13 and Justin Brake added
11 points for the Eagles. Freshman Lyndon Humphries also gave the
Eagles some solid minutes off the bench as he scored a career-high
nine points.
The Eagles held Averett without a field goal for nearly seven
minutes late in the first half and opened up an eight-point lead. A
layup by Humphries gave BC a 33-25 lead with 43 seconds left, but a
3-pointer by Michael St. John trimmed the BC lead to five at the
half.
A 3-pointer by Justin Pierce pulled the Cougars to within six,
62-56, with 1:10 left in the game, but BC scored the game's final
six points to seal the victory. Jordan hit two foul shots to push
the lead to eight before a steal and dunk by Kordero Thompson gave
the Eagles a 10-point lead with 54 seconds left. Drew Maynard
scored on a layup with 17 seconds left for the game's final points.
With the victory, Bridgewater improved to 9-10 overall this
season.
