Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. - On Sunday at Greensboro College, the Bridgewater Eagles women's lacrosse team won their second game in a row by defeating the host Pride by a 13-11 score in a non-conference matchup.
In the opening minutes, Greensboro controlled play, running up a 4-0 lead until sophomore Katie Freeman netted the first goal of the game for the Eagles with 23:41 to play in the opening frame.
Greensboro responded with another goal to run its lead back to four goals before a six-goal spurt from the Eagles put Bridgewater on top by a 7-5 score with under six left in the first half. Sophomore Taylor Chamberlain knotted back-to-back goals, before Freeman tallied her second goal of the game with 12:24 to play in the first to bring the Eagles to within a goal, 5-4.
Chamberlain knotted the game up with her third goal of the afternoon with 11:39 to play in the first before back-to-back goals from the stick of freshman Paige Hennessy put Bridgewater up 7-5 with 5:54 to play in the opening half.
Over the remainder of the first half, the two teams traded goals, with senior Jenny Logan tallying the final goal of the first stanza to give Bridgewater an 8-6 halftime lead.
Out of the intermission, goals by Chamberlain and Hennessy built the Bridgewater lead to three goals, 10-7, with 23:39 to play.
Greensboro knotted the game up at 10 each with three unanswered tallies from Brittany Ziobro, before Chamberlain put the Eagles back on top, 11-10, with 12:28 remaining.
Freeman netted the hat trick with 8:17 to go, before Chamberlain tallied her sixth, and final, goal of the game to push the Bridgewater advantage to three at a 13-10 tally with under six remaining.
Greensboro got back on the board with 34 ticks to play, but the lead was too much to overcome as the Eagles picked up their second win in a row with a 13-11 victory over the Pride.
Chamberlain paced the offense with six goals, matching her career high set a season ago against Notre Dame (Ohio). The sophomore also added two assists on the day to post eight points in the win, a new career high. Freeman and Hennessy also added three goals each in the win.
In the cage, freshman Laura Reynolds turned away 10 shots to earn her second victory of the season.
Ziobro led the Pride offense with a game-high seven goals, while Tierra Lyles recorded three saves in the loss.
Bridgewater is back in action on Tuesday when the Eagles travel to Randolph. Start time against the WildCats is set for 7 p.m.
