Box Score

FROSTBURG, Md. – Caroline Augsburger, Galen Goodman and Taylor Prillaman netted two goals a piece as the Bridgewater Eagles field hockey team routed Bethany (WV) by an 8-0 score at the Frostburg State Tournament.

After a scoreless opening 10 minutes, Augsburger broke the early deadlock when she stuck a shot past the keeper to put the Eagles ahead by a 1-0 tally.

At the 25-minute mark, Goodman registered her first goal of the game when she took an Alenka Ferrufino pass and beat the Bethany goalkeeper to give Bridgewater some insurance, and a 2-0 advantage.

Augsburger netted her second goal of the game 55 seconds later when she snuck a shot past the keeper on a pass from Betsy Joslyn to hand the Eagles a 3-0 lead at the 25:55 mark.

Prillaman rounded out the first-half scoring when she took a pass from fellow freshman Rachael Loy and found the back of the net to put the Eagles in front by a 4-0 score as the game headed to the intermission.

Bridgewater dominated play in the first half, outshooting Bethany by a 20-0 margin while owning an 11-1 advantage in corners.

Out of the halftime break, senior Kelly Ryan got in on the scoring when she put an unassisted shot past the keeper to build the Bridgewater lead to 5-0 in the 47th minute.

Prillaman extended the Eagles' lead to six goals just over a minute later when she found the back of the net to put Bridgewater up by a 6-0 margin at the 47:58 mark.

Off the ensuing faceoff, the Eagles moved briskly into scoring position before Augsburger put a pass on the stick of senior Joan Burleson and the Newport News, Va. native did the rest to build the Bridgewater lead to 7-0.

Goodman rounded out the scoring for the Eagles when she scored off of a penalty stroke in the 52nd minute to finalize the scoring at an 8-0 score, giving Bridgewater its first victory of the season.
