Bridgewater Blanks Hollins, 3-0

ROANOKE, Va. – Bridgewater College did all of its scoring in the first 17 minutes of play Wednesday afternoon to take a 3-0 victory over Hollins in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's soccer action.

The Eagles got on the scoreboard in the ninth minute on an unassisted goal by Michelle Viegas, her fifth goal of the season.

Less than two minutes later, Anna Theisen made it 2-0 with an unassisted goal, her second of the season.

The Eagles closed out the scoring in the 17th minute on an unassisted score by Nikole Blackwell. The goal was her third this season.

Bridgewater held an overwhelming 31-7 advantage in shots including a 16-3 edge in shots on goal. The Eagles held a slim 3-2 margin in corner kicks.

Taylor Riley and Kelsey Hecker split time in goal and shared the shutout. Riley started and played the first 56 minutes and recorded three saves. Hecker finished up and was not tested by a shot on goal in her 34 minutes of action.

The Eagles are now 9-6-1 overall and 6-3-1 in conference play. Bridgewater returns to action Saturday afternoon when the team travels to Randolph College. Game time is 4 p.m.
