Box Score EMORY, Va. - The Bridgewater women's soccer team opened conference play Saturday evening with a 1-0 victory at Emory & Henry College.
The Eagles held a 10-2 edge in shots in the first half, but the teams went to the break deadlocked at 0-0.
Bridgewater broke the tie early in the second half when Nikole Blackwell headed in Michelle Viegas' corner kick for the only goal of the game.
The Eagles finished the contest with a commanding 24-8 edge in shots, including a 13-2 edge in shots on goal. Bridgewater also held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Bridgewater keeper Kelsey Hecker finished with two saves to record the shutout.
With the victory, the Eagles snap a three-game losing streak and improve to 3-3 overall. E&H is 0-7, 0-1 in the ODAC.
Bridgewater returns to action Saturday, Sept. 21 when the Eagles host Sweet Briar in a conference matchup. The contest is slated for an 11 a.m. start.
