Box Score WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel College scored two quick goals early in the second half Tuesday afternoon and pulled away for a 3-0 victory over Bridgewater in non-conference men's soccer action.
The Green Terror got on the board in the 18th minute on a Bridgewater own goal. The ball found the Eagles' goal as the defense tried to clear a centering pass from McDaniel's Shane McCracken.
Bridgewater shook off the miscue and held the hosts scoreless the remainder of the half to trail by just the single goal at the break.
McDaniel held a slight 6-2 edge in shots in the opening half as the Eagles stayed in contention.
Things changed quickly in the second half as McDaniel took control with two goals just 22 seconds apart.
McCracken made the score 2-1 with his unassisted goal less than five minutes into the second half. Teammate Edgar Escobar followed by blasting a shot into the back of the net from 30 yards out, making the score 3-0 at the 49:44 mark.
The Eagles responded with a good offensive flurry as Ben Lewis put a shot on goal that was saved by McDaniel keeper Nick Over. The Eagles also had several corner kick opportunities but were unable to take advantage.
In the closing minutes, Chris Black and Dean Bryant put shots on goal, but Over saved Black's shot while the Green Terror defense cleared Bryant's attempt off the goal line for a defensive save.
The Eagles, now 1-6 overall, return to conference play Saturday evening when they travel to Lynchburg for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
