Box Score HARRISONBURG, Va. – Bridgewater College posted its third consecutive shutout with a 4-0 victory Tuesday evening over rival Eastern Mennonite University.
The Royals kept the Eagles off the scoreboard for the first 20 minutes before two quick goals gave the Eagles the lead for good.
Bridgewater notched its first goal when freshman Isabella Krider got free on a breakaway down the right side. Krider carried the ball to the top of the box and then slid a pass to Keri Rager for an easy goal and a 1-0 lead at the 25:59 mark. The goal was Rager's 12th of the season and the assist was No. 8 this season for Krider.
Less than two minutes later, the Eagles scored again when Ashley Crossman gathered up a loose ball and her shot from the top of the box went over the keeper's outstretched hand, making the score 2-0.
Bridgewater put the game away with two goals early in the second half.
Crossman netted her second goal of the night when her shot from the left side just outside of the box beat the keeper to the far post to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead at the 51:26 mark.
The Eagles scored their final goal in the 64th minute when freshman Bailey Kratz worked free on the right side for a breakaway. Kratz dribbled the ball from just past midfield into the box where she beat the keeper for her eighth goal of the season.
Bridgewater keeper Hayley Talbott picked up her fourth shutout of the season. She finished the night with one save. EMU keeper Becca Borg had a busy night with 14 saves.
Bridgewater (6-4-1, 3-1-1 in the ODAC) held a 36-3 edge in shots and a 10-2 advantage in corner kicks over EMU (1-9-0, 0-3 in the ODAC).
The Eagles are back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Lynchburg College. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
