Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College outscored the Bridgewater College Eagles 52-30 in the second half to take a 74-58 non-conference victory Monday evening.
Bridgewater (2-4) led by six at the half, 28-22, despite turning the ball over 14 times. The Eagles made 12-of-17 shots (70.6 percent) in the first 20 minutes, but turnovers kept Bridgewater from expanding its lead.
Leading 18-16 with 7:52 left in the half, Bridgewater reeled off eight straight points to take its biggest lead of the game. Cameron Thurston hit back-to-back 3-pointers and Efe Balfour scored inside, giving the Eagles a 26-16 lead with 3:46 left in the half.
Greensboro (1-4) outscored the Eagles 6-0 during the remainder of the first half to cut the deficit to 28-22 at the break.
The Pride opened the second half with an 11-2 spurt to take the lead and the Eagles were unable to recover.
Greensboro shot 54.9 percent for the game, making 28-of-51 shots. The Pride shot 63.3 percent in the second half. The Eagles connected on 50 percent of its 44 shot attempts.
Bridgewater turned the ball over 27 times and lost the rebounding battle by a 31-20 margin.
Thurston led the Eagles with 16 points and Jesse Case scored 13. Thurston also led the Bridgewater effort on the boards with five rebounds.
Joseph Gatling and Simeon Howard scored 16 points each to lead Greensboro and Donavan Griffith added 15. Howard also pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.
The Eagles return to action Saturday when they make a return trip to Greensboro, this time for an ODAC matchup with the Guilford College Quakers. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
