Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater College men's basketball season came to an end Monday evening with a 69-51 loss to Randolph College in the first round of the ODAC tournament.
The story of the first half was shooting. While most of the stats were close to even, putting the ball in the basket proved to be the difference.
The WildCats shot 56 percent in the first 20 minutes as they opened up a double-digit lead. The Eagles, meanwhile were ice cold in the opening half, making just 8-of-29 shots, to trail 34-23 at the half.
A jumper by Kyle Welty gave the Eagles a 10-9 lead with 10:22 left in the first half, but a 3-pointer by Corey Brown ignited an 11-2 Randolph run that gave the WildCats the lead for good, 20-12.
Two free throws by Ed Reddick pulled the Eagles to within three, 22-19, with 7:04 left in the half, but the WildCats outscored Bridgewater 12-4 over the final seven minutes to lead by 11 at halftime.
Randolph took control early in the second half as the WildCats hit the Eagles with a quick 10-0 spurt to open up a 21-point lead.
Matthew Hunter was the lone Bridgewater player in double figures with 12 points. Ed Reddick, the ODAC's leading scorer was 0-for-6 from the field and finished with a season-low four points.
Gordon Rogo paced four Randolph players in double figures with 18 points.
Randolph shot a blistering 59.1 percent from the floor for the game, making 26-of-44 shots. The Eagles made 19-of-54 shots for 35.2 percent. The WildCats held a 34-29 edge on the boards with Rogo leading the team with nine rebounds. Welty and Marcus Curry each grabbed five rebounds for the Eagles.
Randolph advances to the ODAC quarterfinals at the Salem Civic Center where the WildCats will meet the top-sseded Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets.
Bridgewater ends its 2014-15 season with an 11-15 overall records.
