Box Score DANVILLE, Va. - The Bridgewater College volleyball team fell to Averett on the road, 3-0 (18-15, 19-25, 20-25), Friday evening in the Grant Center.
The recent lost dropped the Eagles to 2-11 on the season, and Cougars improved to 10-7.
As a team, the Eagles had a hitting percentage of .103, registered 42 digs, 25 kills, 21 assists, eight service aces.
Sophomore Rachel Kinsey led the offense with eight kills, senior Nikki Snyder and sophomore Macon Frey recorded nine digs and freshman Jenna Hamra had eight assists.
The Eagles started the first set with an 11-9 lead following a kill from sophomore Carleigh Studtmann. The Cougars scored four straight points for a 16-12 advantage after tying the score 11-all and went on the control the rest of the frame.
The Cougars got off to a quick start in the second game by taking a 12-7 lead. The Eagles then evened the score 13-all behind a service ace. However, the Cougars maintained its lead to put the Eagles in a 2-0 hole.
In the third set, the Cougars took another commanding lead, 10-2. The Eagles managed to cut the scoring margin to three, 20-17, after sophomore Sarah Temple blasted a kill.
Nonetheless, back-to-back attack errors from the Eagles gave the Cougars the set point and the win.
The Eagles remain on the road for an ODAC matchup against Guilford on Saturday, Sept. 26 at noon.
